    Privacy Policy for Eillance

    Effective Date: 2025-05-01

This privacy policy applies to the “Eillance” application, available for download on the Google Play Store and potentially other platforms (hereinafter referred to as the “Application”) for mobile devices, and its associated web version. The Application was created by Denis Miller under the associated developer’s account Eillance https://play.google.com/store/apps/dev?id=6747208631083759434 (hereinafter referred to as the “Service Provider”) as a service. This service is intended for use “AS IS.”

This page informs users regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decides to use our Service.

By using the Application, you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that we collect is used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

    Information Collection and Use

The Application itself is designed to function without requiring you to provide personal account information. Its core purpose is to facilitate a secure video stream between your devices. However, to enable functionality and improve the service, certain information may be collected automatically or through third-party services:

    • Device Information: This may include device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers (necessary for pairing devices), and mobile network information.
    • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the Application, such as features used, session duration, and connection attempts. This is typically collected via analytics services.
    • IP Addresses: Your device’s Internet Protocol (IP) address is necessary for establishing network connections (including peer-to-peer connections facilitated by STUN/TURN servers). IP addresses might be logged temporarily by third-party connection servers or analytics services.
    • Crash Information: If the app crashes, diagnostic information may be collected (via services like Firebase Crashlytics) to help us identify and fix bugs.

    Important Clarifications:

    • Video and Audio Streams: The Application facilitates a direct, peer-to-peer (or relayed via TURN server) connection between your devices for video and audio streaming. The Service Provider does NOT access, view, record, or store the content of your video or audio streams. These streams are transmitted using secure protocols (like DTLS, part of WebRTC standards).
    • Location Data: The Application does not actively collect precise GPS location data from your device. However, your IP address, necessary for connectivity, can sometimes be used to infer an approximate geographical location by third-party services (like analytics or STUN/TURN providers) for statistical purposes or service optimization, but this is not used for core Application features.

The automatically collected information is used for the following purposes:

    • Service Provision: To enable device discovery, pairing, and the establishment of secure streaming connections.
    • Analytics and Improvements: Aggregated and anonymized data helps the Service Provider understand usage patterns, identify technical issues, and improve the Application’s performance, stability, and features.
    • Security: To monitor for and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized use of the service.

    Third-Party Services

The Application utilizes third-party services that assist in providing functionality, analytics, and connectivity. These services have their own privacy policies regarding data handling.

    • Google Play Services: (Privacy Policy) - Essential for apps distributed via Google Play.
    • Firebase Analytics: (Privacy Policy) - Used for understanding app usage patterns.
    • Firebase Crashlytics: (Privacy Policy) - Used for collecting crash report data.
    • STUN/TURN Services: Connectivity for peer-to-peer streaming often requires Session Traversal Utilities for NAT (STUN) and Traversal Using Relays around NAT (TURN) servers. We may use:
      • metered.ca: (Privacy Policy) - A third-party provider.
      • Self-Hosted Server: Alternatively, we may operate our own STUN/TURN server. Our self-hosted servers are configured not to log personal data or stream content beyond what is technically necessary for establishing and relaying connections momentarily.

Only aggregated, anonymized data (primarily usage statistics) is periodically transmitted to external analytics services. We may share information with third parties only in the ways described in this privacy statement.

We may disclose User-Provided (if any) and Automatically Collected Information:

    • As required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process.
    • When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
    • With our trusted service providers who work on our behalf, do not have independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement (e.g., hosting providers, STUN/TURN providers).

    Opt-Out Rights

You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network. Accessing the web version can be stopped by simply closing the browser tab/window and clearing browser data if desired.

    Data Retention Policy

The Service Provider does not store your video/audio stream data. Automatically Collected information (like analytics or crash logs handled by third parties like Firebase) is retained according to the policies of those services, typically in an aggregated or anonymized form for a period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined above (e.g., trend analysis, bug fixing). Connection-related data on STUN/TURN servers (like IP addresses) is generally transient and retained only as long as technically necessary for connection establishment or relay, or as described in the third-party provider’s policy (e.g., metered.ca).

    Children’s Privacy

The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will take steps to delete such information. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided personal information, please contact the Service Provider (mail@eillance.com) so that we can take the necessary actions.

    Security

We are concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. We utilize physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the information we process and maintain. Communication between your devices is secured using standard encryption protocols (TLS/DTLS). However, please be aware that no security system can prevent all potential security breaches. You are also responsible for maintaining the security of your devices and your network environment.

    Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. We will notify you of any changes to our Privacy Policy by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the effective date. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

By using the Application, you consent to our processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us. “Processing” means using or touching information in any way, including, but not limited to, collecting, storing, deleting, using, combining, and disclosing information, all of which activities will take place globally.

    Contact Us

If you have any questions regarding privacy while using the Application, or have questions about our practices, please contact the Service Provider via email at mail@eillance.com.
